KUCHING, March 22: The new Roxy Hotel in Kota Samarahan will benefit budget-conscious students and business people, says Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Dato Peter Minos.

He said every year Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak have their convocation ceremonies which can see both parents and relatives scrambling for hotel rooms in Kota Samarahan, on top of business people trying to do the same.

“MPKS is happy that a fully-fledged hotel, the Roxy Hotel, is now opening up and operating in Kota Samarahan, complete next door with an Indon-like food outlet called ‘Sambal Sambal’,” he said in a statement today.

According to Minos, the new 48-room hotel, is well catered and well above the budget hotel standard.

He also said there is a food court coming up near the hotel.

“This food court, a huge longish one, will provide very affordable food and drinks, and targeted at budget-conscious students,” said Minos.

He added the operator is leasing the street space from MPKS for the food court. — DayakDaily
