KUCHING, June 7: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said he was not aware a State Cabinet reshuffle will take place this June 26.

When asked to clarify on a news report concerning this matter, he asked, “Where is the (news) report?

“I don’t know. How can I clarify (this report) when I don’t even know (about it). Since it is from them (Sin Chew Daily Sarawak), you ask them lah.”

When pressed further, he added: “I don’t know, don’t tell me a Chief Minister (wouldn’t) know (that).”

Abang Johari was met today during his visit to Deputy State Secretary Datu Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki’s house on the third day of Hari Raya.

He was accompanied by his wife, Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, as well as Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and wife, Datin Amar Doreen Mayang.

Sin Chew Daily Sarawak today front-paged a rumour that the State Cabinet would be reshuffled on June 26, with at least two new faces filling in as assistant ministers.

The report speculated that Abang Johari might make the announcement and that the exercise would also involve the restructuring of departments as well as changes in ministerial portfolios.

Citing a source, the article has it that Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting and Layar assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu were among the popular candidates likely to be appointed assistant ministers for the first tim

The source pointed out that Abang Johari had been thinking and planning for this move sometime between March and April this year after consulting Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leaders. — DayakDaily
