Abang Jo: Sarawak only State to give extra bonuses to federal civil servants

KUCHING, April 1: Sarawak is the only State to give extra bonuses to federal civil servants, on top of that given by the federal government.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said, for two consecutive years, Sarawak civil servants have been sharing bonuses from the State government with the federal officers to ensure highly efficient civil services in the State.


“Today, I wish to inform the Prime Minister that the federal and State civil servants in Sarawak, they work together as one team.

“I can see that the federal and State governments, in terms of civil services, are working really hard to transform Malaysia as well as Sarawak,” he said during a special meeting with civil servants at Ranyai Ballroom, Waterfront Hotel here today.

With that, he took the opportunity to thank all federal civil servants in Sarawak for their continuous contributions to the development of the State’s socio-economic wellbeing.

In the presence of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the special meeting, Abang Johari also expressed gratitude for the former’s visit to Kuching despite his busy schedule.

For the Prime Minister to acknowledge Sarawak as his second home, Abang Johari said Sarawakians would be proud that the State is not a foreign place to him.

Muhyiddin in his speech after that, said: “Today, I feel like I’m back to my kampung (hometown), Kuching, Sarawak. I can’t remember when was the last time I was here, it was possibly during the old administration, but I did not imagine I would come back here as a Prime Minister.”

Today is the first day of the Prime Minister’s two-day working visit to Sarawak. He arrived at Kuching International Airport (KIA) at about 9.37am together with his wife Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman before heading straight to Waterfront Hotel.

He is scheduled to visit the vaccination centre at Stadium Perpaduan, Petra Jaya, pay a courtesy call to Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, and hold a townhall session on “Shared Prosperity Vision 2030” at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching. — DayakDaily
