KUCHING, Dec 7: The incessant rain did not dampened the spirit of those preparing for the annual Kuching Christmas Parade tonight.

Floats and participants of all ages including children are now gathering along Jalan Padungan near SJKC Chung Hua No 3 here for the parade to start.

Sarawak Blessed Church parade leader Dorcas Teo said the parade will not be cancelled regardless how heavy the rain is.

“We are bracing for the wet weather. Those following our floats are children.

“They will wear a cap with a big egg on their heads. This is to signify the birth of Christ,” she told DayakDaily.

As many as 8,000 Christians are expected to participate in tonight’s colourful event which will see 13 floats in display to kick off the Christmas festive celebration in Kuching.

The event is organised by the Association of Churches in Sarawak and Kuching Ministers’ Fellowship.
