KUCHING, Sept 6: A fast food restaurant at Jalan Bulan Sabit, Miri City and a crude palm oil processing plant in Beluru were at the centre of two new workplace Covid-19 clusters in Miri Division with 29 confirmed cases so far.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said the Jalan Bulan Sabit Cluster involved 17 restaurant workers who had tested positive.
“Out of the total 86 individuals screened, 60 tested negative while nine are awaiting their test results,” the committee said.
As for the cluster in Beluru dubbed the Sawit 16 Cluster, it involved the workers at a crude palm oil processing plant and individuals residing at its workers’ quarters.
“The workers’ quarters have been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from Sept 6 to 20.
“A total of 31 individuals have been screened whereby 12 tested positive for Covid-19, 16 tested negative and three are still waiting for their test results,” it added. — DayakDaily
