Bau registers two new clusters with 39 cases, one longhouse cluster in Pakan with 75 cases

KUCHING, Sept 6: Two new clusters are declared in Bau today involving 39 positive cases as Pakan reports one longhouse cluster with 75 positive cases.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said the first cluster in Bau, dubbed as Jalan Market Cluster, was identified as a workplace cluster, involving workers from a supermarket which is located in Jalan Market in Bau town.

From the total of 53 individual screened, 31 of them tested positive for Covid-19 including the index case, while 21 individuals were negative and 10 others are still waiting for laboratory test results.


The second cluster in Bau dubbed as Bijongon Cluster stemmed from among the residents in Kampung Bijongon located in Krokong area.

Out of 53 individuals tested, 31 of them including the index case were found positive for Covid-19, while 12 others were negative and 10 individuals are awaiting their test results.

All positive cases from both Jalan Market and Bijongon Clusters were referred and admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), Covid-19 Assessment Center (CAC) as well as the Covid-19 low-risk treatment and quarantine centres (PKRC) in Kuching, for isolation and further treatment.

Meanwhile, SDMC said the new community cluster in Pakan involved residents of a longhouse located in Lubok Besai in Nanga Entaih.

Following a screening test conducted on 108 individuals, 75 of them were found positive including the index case while 33 others are still waiting for their test results.

All positive cases from the cluster were brought to Sarikei Hospital and PKRC in the district for isolation and treatment. – DayakDaily.
