99.77 pct of 3,480 new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak are Category 1 and 2, only 8 cases critical

KUCHING, Sept 17: A total of 99.77 per cent of the 3,480 new Covid-19 cases registered in Sarawak today are in Category 1 (no symptoms) and Category 2 (mild symptoms).

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said 2,472 cases (71.03 per cent) are classified as Category 1 while 1,000 cases (28.74) are in Category 2.

Meanwhile, the remaining eight new cases or 0.23 per cent are in Category 3, 4 and 5 or critical stage.

Of the eight cases, one patient is in Category 3 after developing pneumonia but can still breathe on their own, two patients are in Category 4 who need oxygen supply, while five Category 5 patients need a ventilator to breathe.

On the breakdown of cases according to districts, Kuching reported 996 cases, followed by Serian (422), Sibu (272), Bintulu (231), Samarahan (172), Bau (147), Miri (138), Sri Aman (132), Kanowit (78), Betong (76), Pusa (76), Tebedu (71), Lubok Antu (69), Subis (53), Saratok (51), Tatau (47), Mukah (44), Sarikei (43), Kapit (42), Simunjan (41), Asajaya (39), Lundu (37), Belaga (35), Limbang (26), Selangau (22), Lawas (20), Julau (19), Pakan (16), Meradong (15), Sebauh (14), Bukit Mabong (12), Song (9), Beluru (9), Matu (2), Marudi (2), Daro (1) and Dalat (1).

At the same time, the State recorded three new fatalities involving individuals aged between 77 to 83, bringing the State’s death toll to 659.

Two of the deceased had comorbidities while the other one had no medical history of illnesses. — DayakDaily
