KUCHING, Nov 18: A total of 57 Primary One students from 14 schools in Serembu constituency and 32 Form One students from SMK Paku received Yayasan Sarawak School Uniform Assistance Vouchers (BPSSYS) 2021 yesterday.

According to a report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, the vouchers were presented by Serembu incumbent Miro Simuh to school representatives during a handover ceremony at Serembu Eco Park.

During his speech, Miro expressed his hope that Sarawak will get autonomy in education to enable all the professionals and academically qualified members in the State to produce a more knowledgeable generation of Sarawakians.

He opined that the education sector in the country should be independent without the intervention of politicians, and managed by professionals.

“Education should be managed by professionals because I see education as a very important platform for all of us. We do not want it when it involves politicians (where) the policies are also changed based on changes (in positions) of the responsible ministers,” he added.

Meanwhile, Miro also disclosed that the rebuilding project involving SK Serembu is now in the tendering stages, after the designing stage has been completed. — DayakDaily
