89 fined RM1,000 each for defying MCO orders

KUCHING, Apr 11: A total of 89 individuals were issued with RM1,000 fines each for flouting the Movement Control Order (MCO) up until 8 am within the past 24 hours.

State Deputy Commissioner of Police Datuk Dev Kumar reported that 33 fines were issued in Kuching followed by Padawan (15), Sarikei (8), Bau (6), Betong (6), Kapit (5), three each in Miri, Kota Samarahan and Saratok, two each in Sibu, Sri Aman and Meradong, and one in Kanowit.

Meanwhile, an uncooperative woman was among three people arrested in Sarawak for flouting the MCO.


Dev said that the 25-year-old woman was caught behind Riverside Majestic Hotel here at 12.45 am today (April 11).

“She was uncooperative with the police when being questioned. She was arrested and released on bail at about 5 am after her statement was recorded,” he said in a statement today.

The other two arrests were recorded each in Sibu and Song.—DayakDaily
