SIBU, Dec 22: A DNA analysis will be carried out on the skeletal remains found in the drain at Jalan Bukit Assek on Tuesday.

“DNA samples on 83 bone fragment bones will be sent to the Forensic Unit of the Chemistry Department for further investigation,” said Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili today.

A local council contractor had on Dec 20 stumbled upon a human skull while clearing a drain in Jalan Bukit Assek.

The police have classified the case as sudden death.

Meanwhile, Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng in his Facebook post yesterday (Dec 21) expressed his gratitude to the police and local council workers for their hard work in recovering 83 pieces of bone fragments from the location.

“They worked non-stop from 8am to 4pm and discovered 83 bone fragments of a human being,” he added.

Chieng hoped the police would solve the case soonest. — DayakDaily
