KUCHING, Nov 13: Purchasers of the delayed Taman Greenwood private housing project in Matang, which has faced an eight-year completion delay, are urging the developer to meet all necessary requirements to expedite the issuance of the occupation permit (OP) and enable them to move into their long-awaited homes.
This call was made during an engagement session organised by the Ministry of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government (MPHLG) Sarawak with the developer Ganda Hasrat Holdings Sdn Bhd, Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), and affected house purchasers.
The session, chaired by Deputy Minister for Public Health and Housing Datuk Michael Tiang on Monday (Nov 11), addressed the project’s current progress, including the recent issuance of a Road Completion Certificate by MPP.
The Taman Greenwood project, comprising 24 single-story semi-detached units and 51 single-story terrace units, was originally scheduled for completion in 2016 but was declared a sick project in 2021, impacting 29 purchasers.
MPP also informed the purchasers of the specific requirements the developer must meet to obtain the OP.
Tiang emphasised that while government agencies would support viable solutions proposed by the developer to expedite project completion, all regulatory and technical requirements must be strictly followed.
“It is crucial to ensure that the handover of houses to purchasers is carried out safely and in full compliance with necessary regulations,” he said in a media statement today.
MPHLG has implemented proactive measures, including discussions and stakeholder engagements, to identify the root causes of the delay and facilitate project progress.
Tiang noted that these actions are primarily intended to safeguard the interests of the affected house purchasers. — DayakDaily
