SARIKEI, Oct 29: A 71-year-old woman was killed in a road accident involving two cars in front of the Customs housing area here this afternoon, while three others escaped unharmed.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarikei Station received a distress call at 1.25pm regarding the collision between a Perodua Axia and a Perodua Arus.
A team of firefighters led by PBK I Unjah Janggau was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, it was confirmed that the accident involved two vehicles. Both male passengers of the Perodua Arus were unharmed.
However, in the Perodua Axia, one 42-year-old male passenger survived without injuries while the elderly woman was pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel.
Firefighters carried out operations to retrieve the deceased victim using a stretcher before handing over the body to police for further action.
The operation concluded at 1.40pm once the situation was declared safe. — DayakDaily
