KUCHING, Oct 1: A 70-year-old man died while another suffered injuries in a single-vehicle accident along Jalan Murum in Belaga yesterday (Sept 30).
According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, after receiving a call regarding the accident at 1.48pm, firefights from Bomba Belaga were deployed to the location.
The operations commander arriving at the scene reported that the accident involved a lorry where the victim, identified as Chua Peng Yam, who is the passenger, was initially found unconscious while the lorry driver suffered minor injuries.
The victim was confirmed dead at the location by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH), who arrived later and attended to the driver.
Following that, the deceased’s body was later handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
