70 people from longhouse under lockdown in Marudi positive of Covid-19

KUCHING, Sept 25: A cluster of 70 Covid-19 cases were reported among residents of a longhouse under lockdown at Sungai Dabai in Marudi, thus triggering the Jalan Dabai Cluster today.

The State Disaster Management Committee, in its daily updates on Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, reported that of the total cases in the community cluster, 63 were detected today.

A total of 84 individuals have been screened, whereby 14 have tested negative with no lab test results pending.


All positive cases have been referred to the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) of Miri Hospital at Marudi District.

SDMC has also today declared the end of five clusters after no new local cases have been reported in the past 28 days. They are Kampung Paya Mebi Cluster, Lorong Teruntum Cluster and Braang Payang Cluster, all in Kuching; Se-Menyan Cluster in Sibu and Jalan Hulu Engkamop Cluster in Pakan.

With that, the number of active clusters in Sarawak has decreased to 127, out of which seven clusters saw an increase in infections with a total of 139 cases contributed to today’s caseload of 2,712.

They are the new Jalan Dabai Cluster which added 63 more cases, Bungey 2 Cluster (33 cases), Long Urun Cluster (20 cases), Haidah Cluster (16 cases), Duras Cluster (5 cases), while Batu 10 Jalan Oya Cluster and KM20 Jalan Betong Cluster picked up one case each.— DayakDaily
