Sarawak records 10 Covid-19 related deaths, 2,712 positive cases

KUCHING, Sept 25: Ten Covid-19 related deaths have been reported today as Sarawak registered 2,712 new positive cases.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said one of the victims died on Sept 17, three on Sept 22, four on Sept 23 and two on Sept 24 (yesterday).

Of the 10 fatalities, four were from Kuching, two from Sri Aman and one each from Betong, Sibu, Miri and Samarahan.

The youngest victim was a 42-year-old woman from Samarahan whilst the oldest victim was an 88-year-old woman from Kuching.

With 10 new casualties, the death toll due to Covid-19 in Sarawak has increased to 749 persons.

At the same time, five out of the 2,712 new cases of Covid-19 in the State were categorised as Category 4 and 5.

Two patients or 0.07 per cent require oxygen supply while the other three or 0.11 per cent need a ventilator to breathe.

Meanwhile, the remaining 2,707 new cases or 99.82 per cent are in Category 1 (no symptoms) and Category 2 (mild symptoms).

“There are 1,297 cases (47.82 per cent) are in Category 1 while 1,410 cases (51.99 per cent) are in Category 2,” it said.

By district, Kuching recorded the highest number of cases with 888, followed by Sibu (320), Miri (190), Samarahan (145), Sri Aman (134), Bintulu (132), Serian (97), Bau (93), Marudi (63), Sarikei (53), Belaga (53), Limbang (48), Lundu (48), Kapit (43), Betong (43), Kanowit (43), Lubok Antu (41), Simunjan (41), Asajaya (40), Pusa (35), Mukah (33), Saratok (25), Subis (17), Selangau (14), Tanjung Manis (12), Daro (9), Bukit Mabong (8), Tebedu (7), Pakan (6), Lawas (5), Dalat (5), Meradong (5), Tatau (4), Beluru (3), Sebauh (3), Matu (2), Julau (2), Song (1) and Telang Usan (1). — DayakDaily
