BAU, Jan 5: Police have arrested a man for allegedly beating his girlfriend’s six-year-old disabled (OKU) child to death and disposing of her body in a bush at Jalan Kranji here in December last year.
Bau District Police Chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the body of the victim was found at about 6pm yesterday (Jan 4).
He said the victim’s body was discovered following the arrest of the 35-year-old male suspect at a workshop in Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho in Kuching.
“The suspect was arrested at around 3pm (Jan 4). During interrogation, the suspect told police that he had beaten his girlfriend’s youngest child to death and dumped the body in a bush area in Kampung Kranji.
“The suspect then led police to where the victim’s body was dumped,” he said in a statement today.
Poge added that the child’s mother confirmed the body was that of her daughter based on the clothing and a doll she was holding.
The incident is believed to have happened around December last year.
The girl’s body was then taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for a post-mortem.
Both the male suspect and the victim’s mother were detained for further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
