TATAU, Feb 6: A 69-year-old man has gone missing after his boat capsized in Sungai Anap while returning home from sending his military son to Sangan town on Wednesday evening (Feb 5).

His wife was rescued by nearby villagers.

The victim, identified as Lila Jali, was a resident of Antau Sait longhouse along Sungai Anap.

He and his wife had transported their son to Sangan town at 5.15pm for his return to duty at the end of his leave.

At approximately 5.17pm, the longhouse chief contacted their son to inform him that his parents’ boat had capsized about 10km from Tatau jetty while they were navigating back home.

While his mother was rescued by villagers, his father was nowhere to be found.

Upon receiving the news, the son, accompanied by his brother, immediately returned to Tatau and lodged a police report.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Tatau, together with the Armed Forces, police, and Civil Defence Force (APM), launched a search operation early this morning.

As of 1pm, the search team has yet to locate the victim. — DayakDaily
