KUCHING, June 12: A 64-year-old woman succumbed to injuries after being pinned in a vehicle following a road accident along Jalan Lundu-Bau.
According to a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak operation centre today, after receiving the call on Sunday (June 11) at 12.33am from Malaysia Emergency Rescue Services (MERS) 999 regarding the incident, firefighters from Bomba Lundu and Bau was deployed to the location.
Upon arrival, they found a Perodua Kancil had collided with a 10-tonne lorry near Kampung Stenggang in Lundu, where the woman was pinned in the front passenger seat.
The deceased was extricated by firefighters using road traffic accident (RTA) equipment and was confirmed dead by medical personnel from Bau Hospital before being handed over to the police for further action.
The driver of the Perodua Kancil suffered head injuries and was pulled out of the vehicle by members of the public prior to the arrival of firefighters. The driver was given early medical treatment at the location before being brought to hospital, while the 51-year-old lorry driver was unharmed.
The operation ended at 2.53am after firefighters ensured that the situation was safe and under control. — DayakDaily
