KUCHING, July 27: Audiences will be dazzled by 645 dancers dressed in captivating costumes participating in the 9th edition of the Folk Dance Performances to be held during Kuching Festival 2023 at the State Hockey Stadium on Aug 6.
Kho, who is the organising chairperson for the event, revealed of the 37 teams participating, 26 are local teams, while 11 teams have been invited from Lawas, Miri, Kelantan, Sabah, Bintulu Sibu, and Sri Aman.
“This year marks a special occasion as Kuching celebrates its 35th Anniversary since attaining city status in 1988. The folk dance will further infuse more life and vibrancy into the festivities,” she told reporters during the press conference on the event at MBKS headquarters, accompanied by MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, today.
“The folk dance performances serves as a platform to unite individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures, promoting unity through folk dancing while encouraging a healthy lifestyle.”
She disclosed that throughout the folk dance event, a series of activities would be conducted, with dedicated instructors in attendance not only to guide participants, but also to engage members of the public to join.
