SIBU, June 24: A 61-year-old man died after the car he was driving was involved in a collision with a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle at the Jalan Sibu-Bintulu roundabout today.
Sibu Fire and Rescue Department chief Andy Alie said they received a distress call at 11.20am concerning the accident and deployed firefighters to the scene.
“Arriving at the scene, we found the car in a ravine with the victim trapped in the driver’s seat,” he said.
He added that the collision resulted in the smaller car ending up in the ravine.
“Firefighters had to use a rescue tool to cut open the car door to extricate the victim,” he said.
The victim, from Dalat, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 62-year-old driver of the 4WD vehicle sustained minor injuries. — DayakDaily
