Sarawak Government has started rolling out 6-month BKSS cash assistance

KUCHING, Apr 17: Sarawakians who are the head of households and are listed as beneficiaries of Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) in January 2020 who have been approved by the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) are automatically eligible for Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS).

According to a press release from the Sarawak State government today, BKSS recipients with bank accounts will receive their monthly cash assistance of RM250 for six months from 15 April 2020 to 15 September 2020 credited into their bank accounts. The payment schedule is as follows:

ā€œSarawak Government has fulfilled its promise and commitment by making BKSS first payment starting 15 April 2020 to eligible recipients,ā€ reads the statement.

It explained that for those who do not have a bank account registered with the LHDN, cash payments can be claimed from any of the nearest Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branches by providing their identity card and payment will be paid in two phases:

a) Phase One (RM750): after 17 April 2020; and

b) Phase Two (RM750): after 17 July 2020.

The statement reiterated that those who meet the criteria but are not listed as BKSS recipients may file for appeal.

The BKSS eligibility criteria are as follows:

ā€œSarawakians who are heads of households (husband or wife) of the B40 group whose household income is less than RM4,000 a month; or Single (age 40 to 59 / disabled 18 to 59) with income of less than RM2,000 per month,ā€ it said.

As for those who need to appeal, it must be made by filling in the Borang Permohonan Rayuan Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang which can be downloaded from the website www.sarawak.gov.my and submitted to the District Office nearest to their addresses.

Appeal applications can also be submitted online at www.sarawak.gov.my. Applicants are encouraged to appeal online during this Movement Control Order (MCO) to reduce the public movement.

The appeal period is from 18 to 28 April 2020. The appeal result can be reviewed after 15 June 2020 from the website sarawak.gov.my
