KUCHING, Oct 6: A 56-year-old man in Matu Daro nearly lost his hand after being slashed by a machete-wielding man running amok in a village yesterday (Oct 5).
Matu-Daro district police chief DSP Neil Baginda said the victim was also slashed on the forehead and back of his head.
According to Neil, after receiving a call from members of the public regarding the incident at 1am, police rushed to the location and found the victim covered in blood.
“The victim was immediately taken to a clinic in Matu before being referred to Sibu Hospital,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He added that the police also arrested a 57-year-old male suspect, and the machete used to slash the victim was also found.
“The suspect is currently being detained at the Daro police station and remanded until Oct 9 for further investigation,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
