LAWAS, Aug 13: A 56-year-old man was found dead after slipping and falling into a drain while crossing a small wooden bridge in his farm near Sungai Arur in Jalan Lawas Damit this morning.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak responded to the emergency at 8.28am and immediately dispatched a team of firefighters to the scene.
The victim, who had gone to the farm early to gather fruits, was carrying a large basket when he reportedly slipped while crossing the small wooden bridge, causing him to fall into the drain.
His son discovered him unconscious on the drainage walkway at 7.40am. The son had been sent by his mother to look for his father, as the victim was supposed to take his wife to work.
Operation Commander PPgB Azman Ibrahim reported that paramedics on-site pronounced the victim deceased.
Firefighters later retrieved the body, which was handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
