56yo driver dies after car collides with bus in Miri

KUCHING, Feb 5: A 56-year-old man lost his life after his car crashed head-on with an express bus at Kilometre 41, Jalan Pan Borneo in Miri this morning.

According to a TVS news report, the deceased was driving a Proton Saga car.

A spokesman for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said that they received a call regarding the case at 7.06am and mobilised the Miri Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) and the Batu Niah BBP to the scene.


ā€œOn arrival at the location it was found that there had been an accident involving a Proton Saga car and a passenger bus.

ā€œA man is still pinned in the driverā€™s seat, while 14 passengers and the driver on the bus survived without injury,ā€ the spokesperson said in a statement today, as quoted by the news outlet.

After conducting a ā€˜size upā€™, the rescue team extricated the trapped victim using rescue equipment and stretchers.

ā€œThe victim was then transferred to a safe place to be handed over to the Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) for examination.

ā€œThe victim was confirmed dead and handed over to the police for further action,ā€ he added. ā€” DayakDaily
