MIRI, March 10: As of March 8, a total of 564 dogs were successfully vaccinated against rabies through mass vaccination programmes in Miri so far this year.

In disclosing this yesterday at the third location for the rabies vaccination programme at Dato Permaisuri Hall in Permyjaya, Minister for Transport Sarawak-cum-Senadin assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said this initiative is essential in controlling the spread of rabies and other contagious illnesses among the canine population.

The local authorities have been working diligently to ensure that as many dogs as possible receive the necessary vaccinations to protect not only the animals themselves but also the community at large, he said.

Thus, Lee added, it is crucial for pet owners to participate in such programmes to help maintain a healthy and safe environment for all. — DayakDaily
