KUCHING, July 19: The body of a 51-year-old man was found inside a utility storage room of a vacant commercial building at Kampung Datu in Sibu on Friday (July 18).
According to Sibu District Police Chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, the body was found at around 4.20pm by a member of the public who was passing through the area and found the man lying motionless inside the premises.
“Upon receiving information, the police team, together with medical personnel from Sibu Hospital, were rushed to the scene and an examination confirmed that the victim had died at the scene,” he said in a statement.
Initial investigations found no signs of external injury or criminal elements, and the case was classified as sudden death (SDR).
The body has been brought to the Sibu Hospital’s Forensic Unit for a post-mortem to identify the cause of death.
In the meantime, Zulkipli urged the public not to speculate about the case, as it could interfere with the investigation, and out of respect for the victim’s family.
He also urged those with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the nearest police station. — DayakDaily
