KUCHING, April 7: Some 500 people in Kuching received ‘bubur lambuk’ porridge and ‘kurma’ dates which was distributed by the Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (Pemadam) Sarawak branch today.
Pemadam Sarawak deputy chairman Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said apart from spreading the message on the dangers of drugs, the event was also held in conjunction with Ramadan month.
“I hope the community, especially our youth and children are aware of how dangerous drugs can be. That is why we are constantly aiming to reach out to them through various programmes.
“While these recipients enjoy their bubur lambuk at home later, they can remind themselves and their children about the dangers of getting involved with drugs. This is one way to educate and discuss before breaking fast,” she said at the brief ceremony in Kampung Malaysia Jaya, Jalan Astana.
Sharifah Hasidah who is also the Deputy Minister of Law, State and Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sarawak added that the programme also focuses on giving comprehensive understanding to the community to appreciate the month of Ramadan. — DayakDaily
