MIRI, Jan 7: An integrated operation today to clear the city of vagrants rounded up three homeless people at Taman Bunga and two under the Pujut flyover.

The operation was mounted by 40 personnel from Miri City Council (MCC) together with the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK), the police and Welfare Department.

The target locations were Taman Bunga and the Pujut flyover following complaints from the public that homeless folk were taking shelter at these two places.

In a statement, mayor Adam Yii said some of the homeless were suspected to be drug addicts.

During the operation, MCC seized goods under the Sanitary Law 1999 (Section 18). — DayakDaily
