5 Indonesians, Malaysian arrested for gathering at Semerah Padi construction site

KUCHING, July 21: Five Indonesians and one Malaysian were arrested by the police for gathering at a construction site at Semerah Padi.

According to a report from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the group had violated the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the prevention of Covid-19 under Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan.


The police have also issued six compounds to individuals who escaped the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) area without permission.

Other offences compounded by the police include no physical distancing being practiced, failure to scan for checking in using the MySejahtera app and opening of business premises beyond the operating hours permitted.

Local authorities have also issued eight compound notices.

They were for four offences for not providing a registration book or MySejahtera app for checking-in into premises, three offences for not updating the record or registration book and one offence for operating without permission.

The compounds were issued by Bau District Council (4), Serian District Council (2), Sarikei District Council (1) and Lawas District Council (1). — DayakDaily
