SIBU, Sept 8: A 30-year-old driver sustained a severe arm injury, while four other passengers escaped with light injuries when the 4WD (four-wheel drive) vehicle they were travelling in crashed on the roadside and hit a streetlight post at the Jalan Sibu-Bintulu flyover last night.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported that the firefighters from Sibu Jaya station were dispatched to the accident site following a distress call at 12.14am.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered all the passengers had already been assisted out of the vehicle by passersby.

Firefighters immediately provided medical assistance to the severely injured driver, stabilising him, including securing a cervical collar.

He was subsequently transported to the hospital in an ambulance for further medical attention. — DayakDaily
