4WD carrying illegal diesel seized in Kapit

The officers seized the four-wheel drive with a tank of illegal diesel.

KAPIT, Jan 5: Quick action taken by officers from the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry, Kapit branch resulted in the seizure of 122.18 litres of illegal diesel and a four-wheel drive costing a total of RM50,262 at a petrol kiosk recently.

Head of the branch, Englebert Inggath Desmond Japar in a statement today said the action was taken as the the selling of diesel was done without a permit from the ministry.

“We seized the four-wheel drive and a tank of diesel worth a total of RM50,262 at a petrol kiosk. Action was also taken against the operator of the petrol station for selling the diesel to an individual or company without a permit or authorisation letter,” he said.


Englebert added that the two cases are being investigated under Section 21 of the Supply Control Act 1961.

The offence carries a fine of not more than RM1 million or three years jail or both for for individual offender and RM3 million for a company for the first offence.

Under the law, members of the public are not allowed to purchase diesel or petrol more than the quantity of their vehicle petrol tank without a permit. — DayakDaily
