KUCHING, Dec 5: The federal government would revert the number of special draws by number forecast operators (NFOs) back to eight times a year starting Jan 1, 2023, says Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said the previous Perikatan Nasional (PN) federal government increased the number of special draws by NFOs to 22 times from eight times during Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) administration in 2019.
“If there is no tendency to collect illegal funds, we will take necessary steps. For example, as the finance minister, I can decide to cancel a decision made earlier this year by the previous Cabinet, participated by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS), in increasing the number of special draws by NFOs from eight times to 22 times.
“Today, I have instructed that the number of special draws is to be maintained at the previous level, which is eight times. This means starting Jan 1, 2023, special draws by NFOs will be reduced to eight times,” he said in a special press conference in Putrajaya today. — DayakDaily
