46yo crane operator’s body found 350 metres from incident site near Kidurong’s methanol plant

BINTULU, Aug 21: The body of a 46-year-old crane operator who fell into the water from a vessel during dredging operations near the Petchem Methanol Plant jetty in Tanjung Kidurong was found approximately 350 metres from the incident site.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak reported that the victim, identified at Mathew Manggah, who was discovered by workers from Samsung Engineering around 5pm.

His remains were handed over to the police for further action.

Bomba Sarawak were alerted about the emergency at 1.19pm and immediately mobilised a team of firefighters from the Kidurong Station to the scene.

The search and rescue (SAR) efforts, which also involved the police, marine police, and teams from Samsung Engineering and Shell Bintulu, began at 3pm.

The operation concluded at 5.35pm following the recovery of the body. — DayakDaily
