The ceremony was officiated by Minister of Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

In his address, Nanta called on all newly appointed and reappointed leaders to carry out their duties with integrity and dedication.

“To the newly appointed KMKK, you have been chosen by the people themselves, who believe in your capability to lead and fulfil your responsibilities as community leaders.

“I urge you to collaborate closely with government agencies and elected representatives to ensure continued development in your respective villages,” he said in a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report.

During the event, Nanta, who is also the member of Parliament for Kapit, and Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan each contributed RM30,000 to the Song District Chiefs and Headmen Association in support of the association’s roles and activities.

A symbolic handover of a longboat equipped with a 30hp engine was also carried out, marking a contribution to the Song Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) to strengthen its logistical capabilities in responding to emergencies in remote areas.
