44yo Kuching man without comorbidities BID as Sarawak logs 5 new Covid-19 fatalities

KUCHING, Aug 25: Sarawak registered five new Covid-19 fatalities today, including a 44-year-old man in Kuching who did not have comorbidities and was brought-in-dead (BID).

According to the daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak released by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the five fatalities comprised four men and one woman aged between 44 and 99.


“Death case 504 was a 64-year-old man from Sibu who tested positive for Covid-19 on August 22, had Crohn’s disease and passed away in Sibu Hospital.

“Death case 505 was a 44-year-old man from Kuching who tested positive for Covid-19 on August 20, did not have comorbidities and his body was BID.

“Death case 506 was a 58-year-old man from Serian who tested positive for Covid-19 on July 31, and had hypertension, diabetes, heart and chronic kidney disease.

“Death case 507 was a 99-year-old woman from Kuching, who tested positive for Covid-19 on August 23, and had hypertension and diabetes.

“Death case 508 was a 63-year-old man from Samarahan who tested positive for Covid-19 on August 22 and had hypertension, diabetes, and chronic liver, heart and kidney diseases,” said SDMC.

With this, the death toll due to the coronavirus in Sarawak has increased to 508.

Meanwhile, Sarawak registered 1,667 new Covid-19 cases today with 99.88 per cent or 1,665 cases classified as being in Category One and Two, referring to asymptomatic Covid-19 patients and patients with mild symptoms of coronavirus, respectively.

There was also one case in Category Four, as the patient required oxygen and one case in Category Five as the patient was on ventilator support. — DayakDaily
