419 projects in progress under Betong Division Devt Agency, covering infrastructure, agriculture, and more

KUCHING, July 8: A total of 419 development projects are currently being implemented under the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA), revealed Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Uggah, who also chairs BDDA, said the projects span various sectors, with 99 infrastructure initiatives under the Public Works Department (JKR), 215 agro-agriculture projects by the Agriculture Department, 49 social and women’s affairs projects by the Welfare Department, 29 projects under the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Entrepreneurship (Mintred), 11 by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP), and 16 by the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT).

“The main focus of this meeting is to review progress, coordinate actions, and ensure tangible and sustainable impacts for the people of Betong Division.

“This also symbolises cross-departmental collaboration in realising a more efficient, systematic, and inclusive rural development agenda,” he said when chairing the second BDDA Special Steering Committee Meeting of 2025 at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday (July 7), according to a TVS news report.

Meanwhile, Kabong assemblyman Dato Mohd Chee Kadir reported that 33 BDDA projects have been fully completed in his constituency to date.

“In total, Kabong has recorded 102 development projects across various sectors.

“Of these, 67 are still in the planning stage, two are under implementation and on schedule, while 33 have been completed,” he said. — DayakDaily
