416 graduates receive scrolls from Abang Johari at Swinburne Sarawak graduation ceremony

KUCHING, Aug 30: A total of 416 graduates of Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus (Swinburne Sarawak) received their scrolls at the university’s second graduation ceremony of the year today.

The graduation ceremony, which took place at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), saw the conferment of awards to the graduating classes of 2020 and 2021.

For undergraduate degrees, awards were presented to 207 graduates in the field of business, 139 in engineering, 19 in design, 11 in ICT, 24 in computer science, and six in biotechnology.

For the Diploma of Business Management, two graduates received their scrolls.

In addition, the ceremony saw the conferment of awards to two Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) graduates in Engineering and another two in Science.

Awards were also presented to two graduates from the Master of Business Administration (International) and one graduate each from the Master of Construction Management and Master of Business (Research).

Notably, the late Adrian Prakasa, who graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Robotics and Mechatronics), was represented by his older brother in receiving his award.

The attending graduates were from various countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, China, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Zimbabwe.

The event was graced by Sarawak Premier and Pro-Chancellor of Swinburne Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who presented the awards to the graduates.

Amongst those present were Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn; Swinburne University of Technology vice-chancellor and president Professor Pascale Quester; Swinburne Sarawak Board of Directors chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani; and Swinburne Sarawak pro vice-chancellor and chief executive officer Ir Professor Lau Hieng Ho. — DayakDaily
