4 new relief centres in Sarawak as floods escalate in Limbang, Lawas

KUCHING, March 9: In response to worsening floods in Limbang and Lawas, four additional temporary relief centres (PPS) were established yesterday (March 9), raising the total number of active PPS in the State to six.

Based on the most recent update from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the newly activated flood relief centres include Dewan Masyarakat Trusan, SJK(C) Chung Hwa Trusan, and SK Lintang Trusan in Lawas, along with Dewan Masyarakat Medamit in Limbang.

As of 6pm today, these four PPS are collectively housing 347 individuals displaced by the floods.

In addition, two other relief centres continue to operate due to landslides—Dewan Masyarakat Kampung Bahagia Jaya Teku in Sibu, which is sheltering 43 evacuees, and Dewan Kampung Sukan in Miri, currently accommodating 46 evacuees. — DayakDaily
