4 arrested for motorcycle theft in Kuching

KUCHING, March 9: The police have apprehended four individuals suspected of involvement in motorcycle theft in the area.

According to Kuching deputy police chief Supt Merbin Lisa, the suspects, all local men aged between 31 to 38-years-old, were arrested on March 7 in separate operations conducted by a team from Gita and Sentral police stations.

“Following initial investigations, it is believed that they are involved in three motorcycle theft cases reported in Jalan Gertak and Metrocity area in Kuching.

“Police also seized two unit of motorcycles, one motorcycle fuel tank and one safety helmet that was reported to be missing,” he said in a statement today.

Merbin said urine tests conducted on all suspect revealed that all three tested positive for the drugs methamphetamine and amphetamine.

Merbin also disclosed that the suspects have prior criminal records related to drugs, property, and violence.

The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft, and a remand order has been granted by the Kuching Court until March 12, Merbin added. — DayakDaily
