KUCHING, May 13: The third edition of the Functional Fitness Competition (FFC) saw married couples, siblings, and a mother-daughter duo among its participants.
According to a press release, the third FFC was held on May 11 and 12 in Kuching and Samarahan, respectively, with 38 teams consisting of 76 athletes from Brunei, Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, and Sarawak competing in the four categories of the competition.
In line with the theme ‘Empowering women through functional fitness’, 70 per cent of the participants are women.
Malaysiaās second fittest woman in Cross Fit Open 2024, Chiew Hui Lian, and teammate Wendy Wong from Johor claimed the title of champions in the third edition of the Functional Fitness Competition (FFC) held in Kuching.
Chiew and Wong emerged on top in the female/female RX category, followed by Koay Jin May and Emily Ooi from Selangor in second place, while Claudia Ong with Dr Soh Si Ling, also from Selangor, settled in third place.
In the mixed RX category, Sabahan husband and wife duo Shamala Jeanne Chandran and Jonathan Ethan took first place, followed by Javen Yeoh and Josephine Tan.
Another duo, siblings Stephanie and Emmanuel Chok, who are also from Sabah, finished third.
For the female/female Scaled category, Leslie Vitalis and Avis Teo emerged on top of Victoria Ng and Nicole Thien, who are in second place, while Dr Debbie Kong and Lee Li Hui are in third position.
For the mixed Scaled category, gym owner Charlene Bong and her teammate Sze Chiun from Brunei emerged victorious, while Ray Yuen and his wife Grace Voong from Sabah came in second, while Audrey Chai and Chang Ching Yong fell from their first position to third place in the final event.
The competition also saw its oldest participant, 50-year-old Anna Law, partnered with her teenage daughter, Keeara Yek, in celebrating Motherās Day. ā DayakDaily
