KUCHING, March 2: The Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching) inspected 178 vehicles and issued 396 summonses during a large-scale Ops Samseng Jalanan conducted along Jalan Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa here last night, from 10.30pm to 4am this morning.
During the operation, led by a senior police officer and 27 personnel, the team rounded up a total of 168 motorcycles and 10 cars for inspection. Of these, 26 motorcycles were seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for being found modified from their original structure and for further inspection.
A total of 182 individuals were checked, and 396 summonses under PDRM (K) 257 were issued for various traffic offences.
The purpose of the operation was to curb street gang activities and ensure that road users complied with traffic laws and regulations.

In a statement, Kuching district police chief Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said, “This operation will be conducted continuously from time to time.”
He warned, “Road users, especially motorcyclists, are advised to always drive/ride responsibly, be cautious on the road, avoid involvement in street gang activities, refrain from modifying the original structure of their vehicles, and not gather by the roadside, which can cause traffic congestion and noise disturbances that disrupt public peace.
