KUCHING, June 15: Another workplace cluster emerged in Subis after 39 palm oil plantation workers and their close contacts tested positive for Covid-19.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily statement today said the cluster has caused the area to be placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

“The Dulang Cluster stemmed from social movements among the workers and their close contacts,” said SDMC.

A total of 289 individuals have been screened whereby 39 people tested positive for Covid-19 including the index case while 249 were found to be free from the dreadful virus. Only one individual is still waiting for the test result.

All positive cases connected with the cluster have been referred to the Miri Hospital, Bintulu Hospital and Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRCs) in Miri and Bintulu for isolation and further treatment.

The Dulang Cluster is one of the five new clusters announced by SDMC today alongside Jalan Daya Cluster and Kampung Muara Tebas Cluster in Kuching, Nanga Strass Cluster in Meradong and Nanga Sejugam Cluster in Julau.

At the same time, SDMC announced the end of Long Jegan Cluster in Beluru and Jalan Sultan Tengah Cluster in Kuching after reporting no new positive cases for the past 28 days.

At present, there are 86 active clusters in Sarawak with 13 of them recording an increase of 172 new positive cases. — DayakDaily
