BINTULU, Aug 28: A 38-year-old male driver was killed in a collision involving his 4WD vehicle and a lorry on Batu 27 Jalan Bintulu-Miri today.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak responded to the emergency at 1.10pm and immediately mobilised a team of firefighters from the Bintulu Station to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the victim was still in the driver’s seat, though he was not trapped.
They proceeded with the operation to retrieve the driver, who was later pronounced deceased by paramedics from the Ministry of Health (MOH) on-site.
The driver of the lorry was unharmed.
The victim’s remains were handed over to the police for further investigation.
The operation concluded at 2.20pm, after firefighters flushed the debris and ensured the site was safe. — DayakDaily
