38 individuals, pub owner compounded for MCO violations in Sibu

SIBU, June 13: A group of 38 individuals, including 14 women, have been compounded RM2,000 each for defying the Movement Control Order (MCO) by entertaining themselves in a pub at Jalan Pahlawan here early this morning

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the female owner of the pub was issued a heavier compound of RM10,000 for operating it without a permit while the MCO is still being enforced.

“A police team consisting of MPV and motorcycle patrolling policemen headed by DSP Arifin Baharhad raided the pub which was still operating at 1.15am,” he said.

When the team barged into the pub, they found the group enjoying themselves with beer and music.

Stanley said the owner was compounded under Regulation 7(2) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020 while her customers under Regulation 7(1) of the same Regulations. — DayakDaily
