BINTULU, March 12: A van driver was killed after his vehicle collided with a bus at Jalan Pesisir Samalaju here today.
According to a report by Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received a call regarding the accident at 7.39am.
Following this, Bomba personnel from Kidurong and Bintulu fire stations were despatched to the scene.
“Both drivers were trapped and the rescue team used special equipment to get them out.
“The first victim, the bus driver, was injured in the leg and was successfully removed at 9.02am and taken to Bintulu Hospital for treatment.
“Meanwhile, the van driver was successfully removed at 10.20am and was confirmed dead by medical personnel at the scene,” the report said.
The remains of the van driver, 37, was handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
