KUCHING, Apr 13: A total of 350 food baskets under the Rahmah Food Basket programme worth RM13,485.40 have been allocated to five organisations for them to distribute to the B10 target group – those earning less than RM2,500 – to reduce the cost of living.
The five organisations were Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), Ragad Foundation, Pertubuhan Pembangunan Insan Sarawak, Cats FM and Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society.
The Minister of Consumer Affairs And Costs of Living, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, said the initiative, was carried out by Everrise supermarket under the ‘Dari Rakyat Untuk Rakyat’ programme.
“The supermarket will offer two type of packages to members of the public to be distributed to the target group,” said Salahuddin in a statement on his first working visit to Sarawak and in conjunction with the Rahmah programme roadshow held at Everrise 4th Mile supermarket.
The minister was represented by political secretary to the ministry, Suhaizan Kaiat.
A total of 650 of these food baskets have been collected for the B10 target group in Sarawak, and 300 of them have been distributed in Miri on March 17.
He said that up to now, the Rahmah Food Basket programme has helped 34,000 B10 heads of household, and 12,000 baskets have been distributed to the whole country during the month of Ramadan. — DayakDaily
