KUCHING, Dec 15: A 34-year-old contract worker has been fined RM1,500 or sentenced to one month in jail for assaulting his girlfriend, who is married.
Stephen Marshall pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi in the Magistrate’s Court today.
According to the charge, the incident took place at a house at Belatok Street in Taman Malihah, around 12.18pm on Aug 8.
Marshall intentionally caused injuries by punching the face and waist of the 34-year-old victim.
The assault occurred as the accused found it difficult to continue the relationship since his lover had not yet legally divorced her husband.
The prosecution was led by Inspector Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin, while the accused did not have legal representation. — DayakDaily
