347 police personnel and officers honoured for their service with Jasa Pahlawan Negara medals

KUCHING, April 19: A total of 347 police personnel and officers who are still serving received Jasa Pahlawan Negara (JPN) medals here today.

Of the number, 333 are of various ranks-and-file.


The ceremony at Dewan Kenyalang, Pulapol, here was officiated at by Home Security and Public Safety Bukit Aman director CP Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali.

Present was also State Commissioner of Police CP Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri and his deputy Datuk Mancha Ata.

In total, some 994 personnel received awards, including the recipients.

The second presentation will be held this May.

Similar award presentations have been held six times since 2014 until 2019, but had to be temporarily stopped due to Covid-19.

Meanwhile, some 965 pensioners who have served as Special Constable, Home Guard, Auxiliary Police, Extra Police Constable, Border Scout, Jungle Scout, Police Field Force (PFF) Reservist and Sarawak Constable also received the award.

A total of 2,965 police pensioners have not received the award, but have registered with the e-pesara portal.

The JPN award acknowledges the sacrifices of police personnel who have served in West Malaysia between July 1948 until July 12 1960 and the communist insurgency from June 17 1968 till Dec 2 1989 in the country, and also in Sabah and Sarawak from 1962 till Oct 17 1990. — DayakDaily
