KUCHING, Aug 28: Some 33,884 hawkers and petty traders have received their first RM750 SarawakPay cash assistance under the Sarawak government’s sixth Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS 6.0).
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the statistics, which are current as of Aug 27, were provided by the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (MLGH).
While the authorities continue to make payments to about 3,000 recipients per working day, he said there are 14,700 more in the queue.
A total of 48,584 eligible hawkers and petty traders will be able to receive their share by the end of August.
“Meanwhile, there are 12,563 operators that do not have registered merchant accounts in SarawakPay,” said Wee in his Facebook live streaming today.
He stressed that the BKSS payments will only be channeled through the mobile payment application unlike previously through Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) bank transfer.
There are also 14,747 applicants that are being verified at the moment.
For those under MBKS jurisdiction who have submitted their applications some time ago and have yet to receive any response or were rejected, Wee said they could contact the officers-in-charge to appeal.
These individuals are encouraged to send their details to either 013-8567287 or 019-8282095 for further assistance.
As promised by the State government in BKSS 6.0, the second RM750 in Phase II will be distributed to those eligible in December this year. — DayakDaily
