MIRI, Aug 28: A 31-year-old man from Bandar Baru Permyjaya sustained a leg injury when a heptafluoropropane fire extinguisher fell and struck his leg while being transported to the kitchen.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak, which responded to the emergency at nearly 3pm, stated that the impact caused the extinguisher’s valve to break, resulting in a small explosion.
A team from the Lutong Station deployed to the scene found that the extinguisher had leaked and exploded while being moved from the carpark to the kitchen area of the victim’s house.
The victim, who had already been taken to Miri Hospital for treatment by a relative, suffered an injury to his left leg from the falling equipment.
Firefighters removed the extinguisher to an open area near the house to allow the gas to fully dissipate and contacted a company for proper disposal of the equipment.
The operation concluded after firefighters ensured the safety of the scene. — DayakDaily
